Google shared a preview of the new advertising features to be announced at Google Marketing Live on May 24.
These features represent the work the Google Ads team will be doing in the first few months of 2022.
Advertisers can look forward to enhancing their marketing efforts with these upcoming additions to Google Ads.
Improvements to Responsive Display Ads
Google’s responsive display ads, which adjust ad creatives to fit ad units of different sizes, are getting an upgrade.
mobile layout
The new, mobile-first layout for responsive display ads will be able to accommodate any portrait image or video asset.
Responsive display ads can automatically generate video from static creatives. This will allow advertisers to access full-screen mobile ad inventory when a mobile-first layout is available.
machine learning
Machine learning speeds up the entire process of generating ads to fit different formats and device types.
In a blog post, Google explained what machine learning will bring to responsive display ads:
“By using machine learning to speed up the design and iteration process, you can deliver engaging display ads faster than ever. In short, upload a few images, videos and headlines, and we’ll automatically create and test visually compelling Ad mix to fit millions of possible ad placements and, most importantly, deliver results.”
Google’s testing has shown that advertisers, on average, see twice as many conversions when adding responsive display ads to ad groups that use static display ads.
Image uncropped
Google Ads will use machine learning to uncrop images in product ads.
Image uncropping seamlessly expands the image to fill available so you won’t be left with a white border.
Examples of product ads with and without image uncropping are shown below:
This will be an automatic improvement, meaning advertisers won’t need to make manual changes.

Creative Inspiration Center
Available now, Google has developed a web homepage to find inspiration for ad creatives.
Google brings together some of the most successful creative assets from across Google Ads and presents them in new forms Creative Inspiration Center.
There, you’ll see real-world examples of ads for businesses in Discover, Display, App, and YouTube campaigns.
Google hopes this will help you find ways to take your campaigns a step further.
