- cheese – Use a combination of hard cheese, semi-hard or semi-soft cheese, and soft cheese to add variety. I used brie, sharp cheddar, and white cheddar.Other good options for making shapes include Gruyère, Swiss, Manchego, Gouda, Mozzarella, or check out my full post Cheese list here.If you don’t like brie as a soft cheese, you can use soft goat cheese or even make cheese balls. (You may need a cheese knife for very soft cheeses that are more like a spread.)
- olives – I used pimento olives to create the weird eyeball look, but green or black olives would also work.
- Pickle – You can use mini dill pickles (cornichons), sliced pickles, or even sauerkraut for added variety.
- meat – I included salami and ham in my Halloween themed board, but you can also add other meats like dry cured sausage, coppa, or pepperoni.
- cookie – Choose your favorite! Sweet Potato Cookies A favorite in our house, but I also add some regular gluten-free cookies.You can also make your own Flaxseed Cookies3 ingredients Almond Flour Cookies,crispy cheese biscuitseven Cheddar Parmesan Cheese Potato Chips.
- fruit – Berries or grapes work well because they don’t make a mess and people can grab as many as they want. I used blackberries and blueberries to incorporate some darker colors to create a Halloween theme.You can also add raspberries, strawberries, orange slices, or even cinnamon apple slices For the taste of fall.
- nut – Try almonds, walnuts, pecans, pistachios or any other nut you like.
How to Make a Halloween Charcuterie Board

- Cut cheese into Halloween shapes. I use the small size Halloween shaped cookie cutters Cut the hard cheese into ghost and pumpkin.Place cheese in several different areas cutting board (or a plate).
- Establish your anchor point. Add pickles and olives small bowl and place them on the blackboard. Not only do these anchor points provide structure to your panel, they also help arrange other foods around it for a great presentation.
- Add deli meats to plate. Place them in separate areas and fold individual slices to create more space.
- Fill the space with cookies. Place cookies across the board to fill in some of the larger gaps.
- Add nuts and berries. Use them to fill any remaining empty spaces.
Tip: Consider using tags.

- pumpkin shape – Using a round board, start by making the eyes and mouth of your Jack-O-Lantern out of blueberries or blackberries. Then, place mostly orange items (cheese, nuts, and cookies) to fill the board. Top with pumpkin stems using fresh herbs or celery stalks.
- skeleton shape – Cut the skull from the brie wheel. Arrange cheese and meat slices horizontally under the head to create ribcage. Then, arrange other items around the skeleton to fill out the rest of the board.
- vegetarian diet – Skip the meat and add more cheese to make a Halloween cheese board.
- Add a sweet touch – By adding more fruits (regular or sugar free marshmallowsyour favorite Halloween candy or other treats (my kids love Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups! ), and/or a bowl Chocolate Hummus Serve with sliced apples for dipping.
- decorate – I used plastic spiders and spider web mats under the board, but you could also add skeleton hands or Witch’s Cauldron Serving Bowl On the side.
If you have leftovers, you can store all the ingredients (except the crunchy ingredients like nuts and crackers) tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Keep nuts and crackers in the pantry.
You can also complete all the slicing a few days ahead and assemble the Halloween Charcuterie Board before serving, or assemble the board 1-2 days in advance and store covered in plastic wrap in the refrigerator.
