According to the City News Agency, a judge in Los Angeles on Thursday dismissed an attempt on three sexual assault charges against former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein before his second trial later this year.
The 69-year-old Weinstein was convicted of rape in a trial in New York last year. Between 2004 and 2013, he faced a total of 11 new charges in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles areas, involving five women.

Weinstein pleaded not guilty to the rape and sexual assault charges in Los Angeles, and is appealing his conviction in New York and 23 years in prison.
His attorney Mark Werksman told the Los Angeles Superior Court that California’s statute of limitations should be used as an excuse to dismiss three charges related to 2004 and 2005—rape, sexual assault, and forced oral sex.
According to “City News”, the judge ruled that Weinstein was not guilty of two counts, but asked the prosecutor to amend the sexual assault allegations.
Weinstein was once one of the most powerful people in Hollywood. If all 11 counts are convicted, he could face up to 140 years in prison. The date of the trial is still to be determined.
