When to Decorate for the Holidays
While there’s no hard and fast rule about when you should start decorating a space for the holidays, there are definitely some guidelines to follow to make sure you don’t get ahead of yourself. Most people choose to decorate their homes for the holidays after Thanksgiving, in early December, while some choose to decorate before Thanksgiving. As far as we’re concerned, it’s a fair game once Halloween is over. Why not enjoy these beautiful decorations for another month? If you get a fresh tree, it might benefit you to wait a while so it’s still active when Christmas arrives. Before decorating, organize your space and check your decorating checklist to see if anything is missing or needs updating. Let’s get started now!

christmas tree
For those celebrating Christmas – getting and assembling a Christmas tree every year is a very fun, festive event. Some people use the same artificial tree year after year, while others buy or cut their own trees. Either way, be sure to choose a good spot for it in your home. There should be room around it for tree stands, tree skirts, and gifts. It should also be close to the socket to ensure you can plug in the string of lights. Make sure it doesn’t bump or hit the painting or shelf. Choose a tree that fits your space, not too small and not too big (it should be at least a few inches below the ceiling and not so wide that it takes up the entire room. Sometimes we see a tree in nature , but don’t get too into the size of it. Measure your space before heading out to make sure it fits your space. Not to mention, it will look even more festive and fun once you add some gift wrapping under the tree!

light post
String lights may be the MVP of holiday decorating. You really can’t take a vacation without them! They can be added to your Christmas tree, mantelpiece, garland, stairs, house and more. Some people like colorful lights, some people like to stick to the classic white lights. You can also use different types of lights for different decorative purposes. Some lights are suitable for outdoor use, while others are not. Mini LED fairy lights are great for using hidden interiors, such as along a mantel or a garland in a glass bowl.

plan ahead
Plan your decor ahead of time by checking your decor inventory. Before your big decorating day, check to make sure everything is in good condition and you have the supplies you need.
choose a focus
Choose a focal point for your Christmas decoration ideas. For example, you can place your Christmas village on some table or mantelpiece displayed in the center of your home. This way, you’ll get the most out of our favorite decorations throughout the season.
Use the right lighting
Make sure you have the right lights ready for the right setup. If you are hanging lights outdoors, make sure they are outdoors and have batteries or an outdoor outlet handy. For smaller spaces, consider more sophisticated discreet lights, such as mini LED lights or fairy lights, in fireplace spaces or glass bowls or displays.
use greenery
Don’t forget to use greenery! This is a great way to bring the natural beauty of the outdoors into your home. You can add greenery to your vases with wreaths, garlands and other greenery, and of course a Christmas tree!

stick to the palette
Try picking a color palette and stick to it. You might want to keep it neutral with whites and creams, or be more natural with greens and browns, or if you like festive colors, go all out with reds and greens. Think about your color palette and how to keep your home decor in sync.
Get the whole family involved
Don’t take on all the decorating tasks alone! Get your family involved and give everyone a task. Everyone will love participating and sharing their special holiday decorating projects.
have fun
Most importantly, have fun! The holidays are such a fun time of year. Be sure not to take things too seriously and enjoy your decor. The most important thing is that you are satisfied with these decorations, they will bring you joy every day of the season!
