Honey Garlic Chicken:

  • chicken – I used boneless skinless chicken breasts, but you can also use boneless skinless chicken thighs for this Honey Garlic Chicken recipe if you prefer. Bone-in chicken breasts or thighs will work too, but will take longer to cook. I kept the whole chicken, but if you prefer, you can cut the chicken into 1-inch cubes before cooking.
  • sea salt & Black pepper
  • unsalted butter – For a dairy-free option, substitute extra olive oil for the butter.
  • garlic – I chopped fresh garlic cloves, but you can use 2 tsp canned minced garlic For convenience. Some grated fresh ginger can also be added at the same time.
  • olive oil – I usually choose Extra virgin olive oil Here, but any neutral cooking oil, such as regular olive or avocado oil, will work.
  • coconut aminos – it’s gluten-free soy sauce substitute. If you are not sensitive to soy, you can simply use regular soy sauce or soy sauce.
  • Honey – Added sweetness and honey flavor! You can use regular honey but I like to use Zero Sugar Honey.
  • apple cider vinegar – Added a strong twist. You can also use lemon juice, white wine vinegar, or rice vinegar as substitutes, if desired.
  • red pepper flakes – The amount in the recipe gives this dish just the right amount of spiciness. Depending on your spice preference, use up to 1 teaspoon or remove completely. You can also substitute sriracha or other hot sauces.

Optional side dishes:

  • sesame seeds – Adds a nutty, crunchy texture and earthy flavor.
  • green onions – Provides a fresh, light onion scent and a pop of color.
