Have you always wanted to register with the BIR and DTI but can’t seem to do it in person?Since the epidemic, many people have succeeded start their new business At home or go the freelance route. About AR

You can’t make an OR if you don’t have an OR to provide an AR. The AR is proof that they paid you a certain amount, and the AR will include your Tax Identification Number (TIN) so they can use it for their tax return. This is a story for another day.

What to prepare when registering online at BIR and DTI:

How much does it cost to register online with BIR and DTI

For BIR, you only need to pay a registration fee of Php500 and a document stamp of Php30

For DTI, Php2,000 if your business size is the whole Philippines, Php1,000 if only in your area, Php2,000 if only in your municipality, if only in Baranggay, Php200 is required.

Register your business on DTI

DTI or the Department of Trade and Industry is where you register your company name. Here you can get your business registration certificate from DTI, which you can display at your business or place of work to prove that you are legal.

Register online with BIR

Now, this is trickier and more sensitive registration. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is where you pay your taxes and file your ITR or income tax return. This is the step to legalize your business transactions, so you can have your own official receipt (alternatively, see the explainer above). This applies to freelancers like content creators, virtual assistants or freelancers of any kind, but also to sole proprietorships or businesses run by one person like small businesses from home or online or from a mix of commissions, sales, gigs Earners, ETC.

The forms you will need to fill out during this process are:

  1. Form 1901
  2. Tax Identification Descriptor
  3. BIR Form 1906 or Authorization to Print

When paying your BIR registration online via Maya, Gcahs or via your banking app or e-payment portal, you will need your Tax Identification Number (TIN) and Pay the fee for Form 0605 and DS category.

The only time you need to go to the BIR office in person is when you collect your business registration certificate and print your ORs. Remember to bring all printed forms with you when you go to the office, including official receipts for all transactions and payments you received online when you registered with BIR and DTI online.
