When I was a child, we were friends with a Chinese-Malaysian architect. He was the first ginger grower I’ve ever met.
I didn’t even know ginger was a root until I saw him pulling roots from a large pot.I just know it’s a lively part dried ginger and gingerbread Man.
Now that I’m older, I’m really starting to appreciate ginger as an ornamental and culinary plant. I’ve grown ginger root at the store many times over the years; however, good roots are getting harder to find. A lot of what I’ve been seeing lately has been limp stuff from China without any good “eyes”. You have to work hard to find good slices, but good grocery stores can be found to grow ginger slices.

Do not grow ginger outdoors in cold climates
Now for the downside: If you live in a cooler climate, you won’t be able to grow ginger in the ground. If the soil freezes, it will die.In this case, plant your ginger in flowerpot Then place the pot indoors or in a warm outbuilding during the winter.
In any case, ginger tends to go dormant in winter, so lack of sunlight won’t be a problem.

Just don’t let them dry completely and definitely don’t keep them wet. Water-soaked roots during dormant periods can quickly lead to dead ginger. When the weather warms up in the spring, it’s time to plant corn and bush beans, and put the ginger back outside.
I have been growing ginger for years and I will never be without it again, no matter the climate.
