I’ve always enjoyed making some crafts when we’re spending so much time at home. I think getting stuck in a project is a big distraction. It’s a very easy way to make it, and it’s great for using leftover materials you might have lying around.I have some fat left, I thought my old Crochet Nail Bag Seen better days so decided to make a new one. Of course, you don’t need to have fat dorms, any material will do. An old pillowcase would be perfect, or even an old sheet. My bag is 40cm wide and 45cm deep, but you can make it any size you like.
Take the material and fasten the fronts together so you can work from the inside out. Mark the angle of the hanger at the top as well as the slit for the opening.
I used an old kid’s hanger and cut off the bottom.
Separate the two panels so you can open them. Cut the cut and flip 5mm. Then I pop the material on the sewing machine and sew the hem around the opening.
Pin the front to the back again and sew all the way around it. Remember to leave an opening of about 15mm at the top of the hook pocket (depending on the size of the hanger) for the hanger to pass through.
Trim excess and tie the tail before turning the bag properly.
Insert the hanger into the opening and place it on top of the bag. You can sew a retaining stitch under the hanger to secure it if you want, I didn’t because the hanger fits so well, it really doesn’t need it.
It’s not a super pretty bag, but it cost me absolutely nothing to make and keeps my brain busy all the time! I think crafts are great for mental health and making time for yourself.
