As much as I am excited about the coming spring, I am also a realist and I live in Vermont. It’s still February and we’ve got a way to go before its ankle weather gets naked. A year ago, I wrote this post on how to style cropped pants for winter, and I wanted to update it again with some fresh ideas that could take us into spring. I really enjoy getting dressed and going through the closet. It’s a total mood booster.
I’m a big fan of tailored skirts and most of my pants are slapped at or above the ankle, which is fine, unless it’s cold outside and you really don’t want those poor ankles exposed to the freezing winter cold.I Designed My Three Favorite Pants in Four Ways this YouTube video. Below you will find all the gear details (along with the embedded video). There are so many possibilities with any of them, and I’m a big proponent of wearing white pants all year round. Do you have other requirements for item styles? let me know! For outfit details, scroll down to the bottom of the post.
How to Style Cropped Pants for Winter
try neutral
Neutrals can’t go wrong. Try whites, tans, camels, and even light earth tones like green. I’m also a big fan of winter white pants. No need to store them after Labor Day!
ankle boots
One of the key elements of wearing cropped pants in winter is pairing them with a pair of ankle boots so you don’t have much room between the hem and the top of the boot. I like to show some socks and wear socks with cute prints.
go monochrome
I love the monochromatic look in winter, it doesn’t have to be all white. You can go all black and add a pop of color like a fun hat or headband.
get comfortable socks
Sometimes I think socks are an integral part of clothing. Showing a bit of socks between your boots and skirt is super cute, especially when they’re fun prints.I have too many pairs Smart wool socks By the way, they are so cozy and comfortable in winter. bomb There are also a lot of cute socks and they donate a pair for every pair they buy.
roll up
If you don’t have cropped pants, or want to complete the look with a pair of longer pants, just roll them up a bit. This tends to work best with straight-leg pants or jeans.
Loafers and tights
I’ll be the first to admit that I really despise tights. So if you’re on my level, ignore this advice. But I do think it’s really cute to wear a bodysuit under a pair of cropped pants and a pair of loafers. You can also add cute ankle socks.
The matching concept of cropped pants
White sweater with white cropped pants
These are some of my favorite white pants because they are thick but still stretchy. I paired them with my Marc Fisher boots and a Sezane sweater. If I’m going out, I like to wear this Sezane jacket and Studio Noo bag all white. These Smartwool socks These are my favorite “dressing” versions of winter socks. Add a pop of color with a bright hat.

These are actually my mom’s, but she kept them at my house because she rarely wears them in California. This is a must-have outfit for mom/daughter day because it’s comfortable, functional and cute. The MZ Wallace backpack is my favorite for playground/library/pool use.
