Pet dog tested positive Coronavirus disease -The first recorded case U.K.
The UK Health and Safety Agency (UKHCA) confirmed the positive case on Thursday after a series of tests.
It is believed that this dog, which is recovering at home, has contracted Covid from its owner. Virus.
Experts said that there is no evidence that the animal was involved in the process of spreading the disease to its owner, and there is no evidence that pets or other domestic animals can transmit the virus to humans.
This is the first confirmed case of the coronavirus in a dog in the UK, which was detected in a cat in the same laboratory last year.
The case has been reported to the World Organization for Animal Health in accordance with international agreements.
Chief Veterinary Officer Christine Middlemiss said: “Tests conducted by the Animal and Plant Health Service confirmed that the virus that causes Covid-19 was found in a pet dog in the UK.
“The infected dog is being treated for another unrelated disease and is now recovering.
“It is very rare for dogs to be infected. They usually only show mild clinical symptoms and recover within a few days.
“There is no clear evidence that pets transmit the virus directly to humans. We will continue to pay close attention to this situation and update our guidance to pet owners when the situation changes.”
Dr Catherine Russell, Medical Epidemiology Consultant of the UK Health Security Agency, said: “Covid-19 is mainly spread from person to person, but in some cases, the virus can spread from person to animal.
“According to general public health guidelines, you should wash your hands regularly, including before and after contact with animals.”
