It has been nearly two weeks since the 5-year-old Michael Joseph Vaughan disappeared. The police in the small town of Fruitland, Idaho, as well as many people in the community and surrounding areas joined the mass search, and this story has attracted national attention.
Vaughan disappeared July 27. The police said the boy was “missing and in danger” and his family “fully cooperated” in the investigation.
The town of Fruitland is located on the border of Oregon and Idaho and has a population of approximately 5,400. The city is named after the apple orchard surrounding the community.
The Fruitland Police Department has been assisted by the FBI, Idaho State Police, Boise Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies.
Fruitland Mayor Brian Howell revealed that investigators “are working as hard as they did when he first disappeared.”
Howell added: “They really spare no effort. They are draining the canals, they are inspecting houses. They are doing everything they can.”
With the help of other agencies, the Fruitland community has also stepped up to help officials find the missing boy. resident Surveillance video was provided to law enforcement agencies and the police were allowed to inspect their homes multiple times.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Fruitland Police Chief JD Huff pointed out that 5-year-olds can be “cunning” and able to “enter small places.” He urged residents to continue to inspect their property to see if they noticed anything that might help the investigation.
The disappearance of Vaughan shook the town.
“I must tell you that my entire childhood was spent in the neighborhood where Michael disappeared,” Huff said in an interview. Wednesday press conference.

The investigation is still ongoing. Hoff insisted that officials “didn’t rule out any possibility.”
