Sensors integrated with LoRa® devices benefit building owners in the following ways Monitor air quality real time.
Semtech Corporation announced a partnership with IQnexus, a provider of end-to-end solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) and building automation integration. Its indoor air (IAQ) and environmental quality (IEQ) sensors are integrated with Semtech’s LoRa® devices. LoRaWAN® building automation system standard.
this IQnexus Indoor Air Quality Sensor No ongoing cloud costs, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and comply with WELL and RESET® standards, a key benchmark standard for building owners. The use and integration of LoRa and LoRaWAN into IAQ sensors, due to their easy deployment and cost-effective capabilities, seamlessly integrate the sensors into the existing building infrastructure.
“When developing the new IAQ sensor, we decided to take a completely different approach to how the Internet of Things can improve the air quality in buildings,” Said Michael Welzel, Chief Technology Officer of IQnexus.
“In order to obtain a simple internal deployment solution, we chose to implement Semtech’s LoRa equipment and LoRaWAN standards into indoor sensors so that building owners can accurately monitor the indoor air quality of their buildings in real time.”
“The growth of this market is huge, and cooperation with Semtech is an ideal choice to better improve air quality for all our customers in many countries.”
Through the use and connection of LoRaWAN, IAQ sensors can communicate with any building automation/energy management system, even supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, through standard protocols such as BACnet and ModBus.
According to IQnexus, a typical installation of IAQ sensors includes an IoT platform installed on a local NBNANOs server, about 20-30 gateways, and 700-1000 sensors for 30-50 floors. The sensors cover IAQ and IEQ, and provide higher comfort by measuring a single HVAC area.
“IQnexus’ implementation of our IoT solution highlights the flexible and easy deployment of our LoRa solution in helping maintain air quality for everyone in the building,” Said Marc Pégulu, vice president of marketing and strategy for IoT products in the Semtech Wireless and Sensing Products Group. “Improving the quality of life for people and the environment demonstrates Semtech’s continued commitment to create a smarter and greener world through IoT technology.”
