Italian Vocabulary of the Day: Lampada (lamp)


A word that should be easy for English speakers to remember is lightmeaning is light in Italian.Its origins can be traced back to Latin Lampas-Addisthis again comes from greek Lampás-ádosthe derivative of light Means “glow”.

Like English, light It can refer to the artificial light source itself, or the device that uses the light source. Some of the best known types of artificial light are:

Finally the expression make yourself a lamp (lit. to do self a lamp) refers to the act of going to a tanning salon.
