Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said on Thursday that the Italian government plans to start injecting a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for people with the most vulnerable immune systems later this month.
“By September, we will begin to vaccinate the vulnerable population with the third dose,” Speranza told reporters together with Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
Draghi said that Italy is planning to further expand the use of the so-called Green Pass health documents, which are currently required for long-distance travel and participation in many leisure activities, as well as a prerequisite for school staff.
He also said that once the anti-coronavirus vaccine is fully approved by the European Union and Italian regulatory agencies, Italy may force everyone to be vaccinated.
