Ingredients and Substitutes

This section explains how to choose the best ingredients for this keto peanut butter mousse recipe, what each ingredient does in the recipe, and substitution options. For measurements, see recipe card below.

  • heavy cream – The whipping cream makes the mousse light and fluffy! You can substitute coconut cream, but the recipe will still have dairy because of the mascarpone cheese in it.
  • peanut butter – Gives this mousse a nutty flavor. You can use other nut butters, such as almond butter, as long as they don’t have added sugar.
  • Besti Powdered Monk Fruit Allulose Blend – If you need to use a different ketone sugar substituteI recommend powdered allulose. Granular sweeteners and even powdered sweeteners that contain erythritol (most brands of monk fruit and stevia) can lead to a rough texture.
  • mascarpone cheese – makes the mousse so rich and creamy. If you can’t find store bought, you can do Homemade Mascarpone Cheese Or use cream cheese instead. Warm to room temperature to blend smoothly.
  • Sugar Free Chocolate Sauce – Optional, for a sweet topping. You can also use chopped peanuts and unsweetened chocolate chips, as shown.
