Aura Muir was painfully close to the medal in the Grand Slam tournament, and finally broke the ominous omen with an Olympic silver medal in Tokyo.
Defending champion Faith Kipyegon proved himself different when he hit the line, but Muir rushed past Sifan Hassan, and the Dutch athlete attempted an unprecedented triple in the 1500m, 5000m and 10000m.
Muir participated in major global championships indoors, but it was difficult to convert it into an outdoor medal format.
But as Hassan accelerated in the early stages of the game, Kipigan moved forward and Muir went with them.
When they entered the home run, the Kenyans took the lead, and the Scots surpassed Hassan to win a well-deserved silver medal with a British record of 3 minutes and 54.50 seconds.
Afterwards, she said: “I worked so hard for so long. I have won fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh twice. Now I have the silver medal and the British record. I just train as much as I can. I don’t think Every one of me is so afraid that someone will surpass me and I will be fourth.”
This is just a reward for Muir. She asked her training partner Jemma Reekie to move in with her during the lock-in period so they can work together during training. After winning the Olympic silver medal, she quickly paid tribute to her training partner.
