Oren Williams breaks in the center of the women’s final Taekwondo -67 kg, lost to Matea Delic by a narrow margin.
Williams took the lead with only 10 seconds left in the final, but No. 1 seed Yelich fought back to win the gold medal.
For the 22-year-old young man, this is a kind of internal organs, he looks destined to become a champion after his outstanding performance.
But, like taekwondo player Bradley Sinden, when Yelich finally defeated her 25-22, she suffered a heartbreak.
“It’s not enough. I have her. 10 seconds. I just let go and I messed up. I made a mistake,” Williams told the BBC. “It’s on me, I can’t do anything about it. In that situation, I tried my best.
“I am very satisfied with my performance throughout the day. Olympic silver medal? This is not bad, right.
“It feels good to be here today. I am very confident to participate today. It is crazy for me to participate in the Olympics for the first time.”
The first round proved to be a very tight match, and the two could barely separate within the first two minutes.
Williams finally hit 5-4 in the first round with a header and two punches. Jelic kicked it back and Gam-jeom also scored two points.
The two exchanged headers early in the second round, and Djelic took the lead again.
But Williams hit back to the chest with a punch, which meant that the duo reached a tie 10-10 when they entered the third and final round.
It turns out that this is as close as the whole game, and the two hit the trunk and fists with a score of 13-13 in the last minute.
Williams then took the lead, kicked the ball into the trunk and won Gam-jeom. This means she is leading 18-13 with 30 seconds left.
Jelic seemed tired. After the two kicked the ball into the trunk, Williams led 21-15 with 20 seconds left.
However, this game had a dramatic ending, as Jelich kicked to the trunk and Williams was punished for sticking out a foot from the mat.
Jelic is now only 3 points behind, and she continues to kick to the head in less than 10 seconds.
She also won Gam-jeom, which gave her the lead, and she ended the game with another kick in the trunk, winning 25-22.
