Members of Congress who are leading the opposition to travel restrictions on the Canada-U.S. border are cheering for the news that their days are finally numbered.
New York State Rep. Brian Higgins said that seeing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s goal is to make fully vaccinated American citizens feel relieved Coronavirus disease Returned to Canada in mid-August.
Higgins said this is good news for people living near the border, who have long been a way of life to travel back and forth.

Trudeau told the Canadian Prime Minister on Thursday that as long as the vaccination rate remains the same, eligible American travelers — fully vaccinated citizens and permanent residents — can return in about a month.
He also stated that the government hopes that fully vaccinated travelers from all over the world can arrive in Canada again in early September.
The mutual travel restrictions on the Canada-U.S. border that have been implemented since March 2020 will be updated on Wednesday.
Higgins said in a statement: “For those who have been separated from their families and property for too long, the end is finally here.”
“For Americans and Canadians who live at the border and often cross the border as a way of life, the lifting of restrictions on vaccinators is not fast enough.”
Trudeau’s office disclosed the latest news in the announcement of the Prime Minister’s phone call with the governors, but did not mention whether Canada would require passengers to produce vaccination certificates when attempting to cross the border.
The White House ruled out the concept of a national vaccine “passport”, so it is not clear what type of documents a passenger needs to enter Canada.
The paper read out that the group discussed cooperation on vaccine certificates and a system that allows Canadians to “travel internationally with confidence.”
The news of a shift in thinking comes from two major developments: the prospect of Canadian summer or fall federal elections, and the surge of COVID-19 Delta variants in the United States, mainly among unvaccinated Americans.
Approximately 80% of eligible Canadians received at least one dose of the vaccine, and approximately 54% were fully vaccinated. In the United States, the proportion of Americans over the age of 12 is only 65% and 56%, respectively.
