LeadGen App Review – The Good and Bad for 2021

Disclosure: This content is reader-supported, which means if you click on some of our links that we may earn a commission.

The aptly named LeadGen App is an exceptional opt-in form builder that comes highly recommended for small to mid-sized businesses. This software combines ease of use, a good selection of form building features and functionality, and fair pricing. Read on to find out if LeadGen fits the bill for your business.

LeadGen App: The Good and The Bad

In this section, we’ll break down where LeadGen performs well and where it could do better.

The Good

It’s perfect for beginners: If you’re just dipping your toes in lead generation, learning how to get started can be daunting. You can tell LeadGen is made with beginners in mind. You are greeted with an insightful welcome video immediately after signing up for your account.

The two-minute video takes you through the basics of using the software and building your first form. You won’t be scrolling through mounds of support pages just to get started generating your first leads.

The knowledge base is also worth writing home about. It covers everything you might need to know. This includes information about its more obscure features like the GDRP compliance questionnaire and agreement.

Easy-to-build forms: Building your first form is as simple as you could hope. It’s a three-step process. First, build the form with the questions you’d like to ask. You can also specify the order of the questions. The form builder also includes question tags and placeholder texts to get you started. You can edit the default text to whatever works for your business.

Next, you design the form. This step includes choosing your colors and adding a logo. LeadGen offers plenty of customization options to ensure your form matches your brand and URL theme. Finally, you get an embed code and a link to your form. Simply copy the embed code, paste it to your website, and you’re ready to go. The entire process should take only a few minutes.

Great selection of templates: To begin, LeadGen offers professional templates. More than that, there are great templates for almost any industry you can imagine. You most likely won’t need another lead generation tool even as you scale your business.

There are also templates of forms for almost anything, including feedback forms, surveys, after-sale forms, and internal forms.

Numerous integrations: You can use LeadGen to create custom forms regardless of your CMS platform. LeadGen seamlessly integrates with your preferred page-builder via embed code or iframe. Some of the popular CMS you can use with LeadGen include Wix, WordPress, Unbounce, Click funnels, Webflow, SquareSpace, and HubSpot.

Excellent customer support: LeadGen App has an exceptionally dedicated customer support team. The customer support staff is quick and very well informed. The platform’s knowledge base is also very well-populated. You should have no problems getting answers to most crucial questions there. But if you need to contact customer support, there is a convenient support messaging form on the site and tey will get back to you ASAP.

The Bad

Limited forms: You can only build up to 100 forms with the most expensive plan, the Scale Plan. This may not be a problem for most small to medium-sized businesses. But a large enterprise with a regional or international customer base may find the 100-form limit restrictive.

Many businesses use lead generation forms to collect after-sale data and feedback. LeadGen App may not be the best choice if you have a vast customer base and want to manage a large amount of data.

Limited lead generation features: LeadGen doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a form builder. To this end, you will find its features satisfactory, if not exceptional. But if you are looking for a more robust tool for generating leads, you will find this a little limiting. After all, opt-in forms are only one aspect of lead generation.

For example, lead generation services like Upcall have a team of experts to warm up your prospects on your behalf. The point is, you might need to seriously evaluate your lead generation needs before you decide LeadGen is the tool for you.

LeadGen App Pricing

LeadGen comes in three packages, Basic, Pro, and Scale.

Basic Plan

The Basic package is free. With it, you get a custom Thank you page, one form, and unlimited responses. It’s nice to have a free version. But one form simply isn’t much help if you want to explore LeadGen’s versatility. I recommend going straight to the paid packages since the Basic one isn’t much to write home about. However, it is a good plan if you just want to try out the service and see if it is right for you.

Pro Plan

The Pro plan is the most popular. It’s perfect for small to medium-sized businesses. You get 20 forms, unlimited responses, integrations, and the option to remove the LeadGen branding. You also get A/B testing with this package. We’ll talk more about this feature in another section of this review.

The Pro plan costs $49 per month. You can pay via credit card or PayPal. This plan is perfect for solopreneurs looking to ramp up their lead generation via custom forms.

Scale Plan

You get the exact same features with the Scale package as the Pro. The only difference is you get 100 forms instead of 20. You also get unlimited responses and can remove the LeadGen branding. This package costs $99 per month.

Overall, you’re getting a pretty good deal for the price with the Pro and Scale packages. As we will discover in the next section, LeadGen App has some of the best features of any form builder out there.

All the same, it would have been nice to get a small discount for paying quarterly, bi-annually, or annually. LeadGen doesn’t offer any discounts for longer-term subscriptions.

LeadGen App Features

LeadGen has done an exceptional job creating a product to help with lead generation. There are several impressive features worthy of note. Once again, you get all these features with the Pro and Scale plans. The only difference is the latter offers more forms.

LeadGen App Form Builder

The form builder is a basic function, but it does a great job. You can break down long and complex surveys and forms into a step-by-step format. The logic-based forms guarantee that your audience isn’t overwhelmed.

The best part is you don’t need any design experience. You don’t even need to inform your Dev team if you plan on making changes or edits. Everything is very intuitive, and you can create complex forms in mere minutes.

LeadGen App also offers several different question types, including short and long tests, multiple-choice, image or icon buttons, date selection, and email. You have total freedom to create exactly the kind of survey form that matches your needs. Again, the UX is very intuitive, so you shouldn’t have any problems making your forms.

You can incorporate images, calculators, text boxes, and conditional question trees into your forms. It’s hard to think of a type of form you can’t create using this platform.

LeadGen App Themes and Unlimited Form Designs

LeadGen offers the best form customization features I’ve seen. First off, you can remove the LeadGen logo with the paid plans. This is a critical yet straightforward feature for customizing your forms to match your brand and message exactly.

As far as the theme is concerned, there are four areas you can edit. These include visual elements, theme settings, typography, and step navigation. You can play around with these settings to create precisely the theme that matches your company’s branding.

You can then save your custom theme as the default form. This means you don’t have to create new forms from scratch every time. You can simply build off the theme you’re already happy with.

Additionally, LeadGen offers a mind-boggling variety of design edits you can do. From basics like changing your background color to more subtle edits like customizing the progress bar, everything is possible with LeadGen. Other design elements you can change include:

  • Set a consistent height for all form steps
  • Font size and colors
  • Border radius of various form elements
  • Add textboxes and upload images to forms
  • Add icons or images to choice questions
  • Add radio buttons in questions
  • Creating a fade-in effect
  • Change form internal padding and spacing

The design options here are almost limitless. For a lead generation tool used by 1000+ brands, you still have a great opportunity to stand out from the crowd.

LeadGen A/B Form Testing

LeadGen’s A/B form testing is a great feature that lets you experiment with different versions of your forms. This exercise will let you see which forms perform best.  For example, you can duplicate your existing form, and then, edit the duplicate to change the question order, text, colors, and/or buttons. Send both out and compare the two variants to see which one performs better.

This feature is very intuitive. You don’t need to do much except create different versions of your form. LeadGen automatically splits traffic between the two options. You can easily track the results of your experiment from the tracking dashboard.

LeadGen Notifications

LeadGen has a host of notification features to make your work easier. For example, you can reply to leads captured in your forms directly. This eliminates the need to copy and paste addresses to a new email manually.

This convenient feature also keeps the form in front of your eyes when crafting your reply. That way, you can refer to any information you might need so you don’t miss anything.

Additionally, LeadGen also lets you select the email address where lead notifications go. You can use this feature to automatically send new lead notifications to your sales team. You can also set the cc and bcc to ensure you keep everyone in the loop.

Finally, you can also white-label your lead notifications, meaning you retain your branding by removing LeadGen’s branding in your customer’s email notifications.

LeadGen Form Performance Analysis

LeadGen offers a number of ways to track your form performance. Some of the important performance metrics include views, leads, completion time, and conversion rates. The software also differentiates views from conversion rates. For example, the total number of views may include users who viewed the form multiple times. The conversion rate, however, only accounts for the number of unique views.

You have access to all this information on a straightforward interface.

You can also glean some valuable insights other than your overall form performance. For instance, you can select only the forms you’d like to track. Also, you can see performance for specific periods such as a day, week, or month.

LeadGen GDPR Compliance

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance means that your users consent to have their data stored and processed. It also means users give you consent to personalized marketing.

LeadGen offers ready-made GDPR question types with a checkbox. Here, your visitors can agree to process their personal data according to your terms and conditions and privacy policy. You are also free to edit the description as you wish.

It’s common practice not to input this question as a required field.

Additionally, LeadGen offers a free Data Processing Agreement in line with the setout regulations. You can include this agreement in your website’s legal documents.

Please familiarize yourself with the GDPR if you are collecting data on EU citizens. You’ll need to comply with this regulation. LeadGen’s GDPR compliance feature is a quick way to cover your bases. But it’s still a good idea to familiarize yourself with the code.

LeadGen Geolocation

Lead generation forms aren’t precisely foolproof. You might have to deal with spam form submissions and irrelevant leads. LeadGen has an outstanding geolocation feature to circumvent these problems. You can set which countries you’d like your forms to appear.

LeadGen then checks your visitor’s IP address to decide whether or not they can see and engage with your forms. This is an incredibly useful feature if you are targeting leads only from specific countries.

Summary

Overall, LeadGen is one of the best form builders out there. Its customization options are almost endless. You have complete reign to design your forms to match your brand and message. The pricing is also very fair for each tier. Solopreneurs can compete with more established websites by creating professional lead generation forms at an affordable price.

The geolocation feature is also a handy addition. Being able to specify which countries can interact with your forms will make a tremendous difference in the quality of your leads. You can count on LeadGen for whatever kind of form you need to build and for whatever purpose.
