It all started on May 17, 1972, when Donald Gorske got his first car.
“I drove to McDonald’s, ordered my first three Big Macs, and then walked to the car and ate them,” said in a recent interview. Guinness World Records Video“I just said there, I might eat these for the rest of my life.”
He threw the three containers on the back seat and kept them safe, and the rest, as they said, were all history. Nearly 50 years later, Gorske has become the undisputed record holder for the most consumed Big Macs, consuming more than 32,340.
It is difficult to be a record holder without a record, and Gorske has covered this. The banker’s boxes filled with empty cartons filled his home, and the folders were filled with receipts organized by year, representing each burger ordered and eaten.
Oh, he also has a calendar.
“For a while I started to eat nine a day,” he said of his early habits, although recently he has been more restrained in eating two a day.
The local McDonald’s franchise owner Dave Rouss has always provided Gorske with sufficient special sauces and patties. He told the Guinness team that Gorske once realized that he would spend more gas on the way to buy a Big Mac every day. The actual food costs more.
Now Gorske goes twice a week-Monday and Thursday-to pick up six to eight burgers and take them home to eat later.
“I’m not the type to try new things,” he said. “When I like something, I will stick to it.”
“When we met, Don Gorske didn’t tell me his obsession with Big Macs,” his wife Mary Gorske told the Guinness team. “I didn’t expect it to last forever.”
Although Gorske plans to eat Big Macs every day for the rest of his life, he said Mary has drawn the line: “When it comes to her having to put the Big Mac in the position of the blender, she said it’s already for me. ended.”
For people who eat fast food every day, Gorske has a very healthy figure. He attributed this to the discipline of saying no to French fries and regularly walking six miles around his neighbors.
Each Big Mac contains 540 calories, and McDonald’s says it sells more than 1 billion Big Macs worldwide each year. More than half of them are sold in the United States, and Japan is also the main market for the Big Mac.
