Ofcom, the edia regulator, announced that it has withdrawn from the diversification program run by LGBT charities.
The organization stated in a statement that it has withdrawn Stone wall Diversified Champions Program, because participation “will create the risk of conflict or perceived prejudice.”
Stonewall describes the plan as “ensure that all LGBTQ+ employees are free to be their primary employer plan in the workplace”.
More than 900 organizations in the UK have signed the plan to promote inclusiveness in the workplace.
Ofcom stated that it is confident “to move forward actively without continuing the diversified championship program.”
It added that in recent months some of Stonewall’s policy positions have been “rigorously reviewed.”
“In Ofcom’s case, we have considered whether our relationship with Stonewall poses a risk of conflict or perceived prejudice.
“In view of this, it is the right thing to withdraw from the Diversity Champion Program.
“As a communications regulator, we have a responsibility to ensure that we remain impartial and independent at all times.”
Stonewall has been contacted for comments.
