Meet the 7 startups that Mayo Clinic just welcomed to its AI accelerator


Mayo Clinic on Wednesday welcome Seven more healthcare startups have joined its accelerator program to help young companies develop and validate their AI-powered healthcare products.

The announcement comes months after the Mayo Clinic choose The initial cohort of the program consists of four companies.

Each company participating in the 20-week program, called Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate, receive a $200,000 benefits package. As a condition of this investment, the Mayo Clinic Platform takes an equity stake in each startup.

The package allows startups to improve their AI models using Mayo Clinic’s de-identified datasets and receive feedback from Mayo Clinic’s subject matter experts, including clinicians, researchers, and product development professionals. It also gives startups the opportunity to attend workshops and presentations on topics ranging from FDA clearance requirements to AI ethics. Some of the workshops were led by experts from Google and Epic, said Eric Harnisch, vice president of Mayo Clinic Platform Partner Programs.

Companies selected for the program’s second cohort went through a selection process in which experts at the Mayo Clinic assessed their potential to use artificial intelligence to address unmet medical needs. Harnisch said the team chose a company with a strong foundation in data science and previous experience with Google Cloud Platform, which is Mayo Clinic’s cloud provider.

Here are the seven startups selected:

Aesop Technology

Berkeley, California-based AESOP, which stands for AI-Enhanced Safety of Prescription, develops automated software to improve clinical decision support processes and make data entry faster and less error-prone for physicians.it Recently launched Its latest clinical documentation improvement tool helps medical coders flag mislabeled diagnoses or procedures. The startup has offices in California, Colorado and Taiwan.

New York City-based Biotia is a Cornell Technology spin-off focused on fighting infectious diseases through artificial intelligence and genomics. The company claims it is working to develop the world’s leading database of microbial sequences. It is currently developing DNA sequencing technology to enable personalized discovery of disease-causing microorganisms. According to the startup, this rapid and precise discovery of infectious diseases will guide better patient treatment and improve health outcomes.

San Francisco-based Delfina is a maternal telemedicine company that remotely monitors pregnant women to assess health risks and work with providers to create personalized care plans.start up partner Working with OBGYN providers to serve their patients in an effort to reduce maternal mortality in the country is a highest among all developed countries. Palo Alto-based ImpriMed aims to validate a personalized medicine platform for human and animal cancer patients. Using artificial intelligence, the startup’s platform provides patients and clinicians with predictive information on personalized cancer treatment pathways, enabling oncologists to quickly determine which available drugs provide the best clinical outcomes for a particular patient. The company also has an office in Seoul.

Tel Aviv-based Predicta Med provides an artificial intelligence-driven decision support platform for early detection of autoimmune diseases. Using EMR and claims data, the company builds algorithms to detect various autoimmune diseases. The startup’s platform shows clinicians which patients are at risk and offers treatment recommendations. It believes that early detection and intervention can reduce health program costs and enhance treatment outcomes.

Boca Raton-based SOAP Health stands for Subjective, Objective, Evaluation, Plan. Its software is designed to improve early disease detection and diagnosis at the point of care. The startup offers an EHR integration platform with a patient- and physician-facing interface powered by conversational AI. The platform identifies high-risk patients who meet National Medical Association guidelines for enhanced surveillance for cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.
