The Mexican Ministry of National Defense said on Tuesday that Mexican authorities had arrested the wife of a powerful drug cartel leader.

The ministry described the arrest of Rosalinda Gonzalez, the wife of the new-generation leader of the state of Jalisco on Monday, as “a major blow to the financial structure of criminal organizations in Jalisco.” .

Ossegra is one of the most wanted people in Mexico and the United States.

Gonzalez, arrested in central Jalisco, is believed to be the financial operator of the cartel, which is one of the most powerful and violent organizations in Mexico.

She was previously arrested and charged with money laundering in May 2018, but was released on bail in September this year.

The ministry stated that she is now charged with multiple crimes, including “illegal financial activities of an organized criminal group.”

The arrest took place two days before Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador met with U.S. President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Washington – it was five. This is the first such trilateral North American summit in recent years.

Lopez Obrador and Biden will also hold bilateral meetings, where security and drug trafficking issues are also on the agenda.

The new generation of cartels in Jalisco is known for launching shameless attacks on the authorities.

In May 2015, the cartel used a rocket launcher to shoot down a military helicopter, killing 8 soldiers and 1 policeman.
