Monde Nissin Corporation has formed a year-long partnership with social enterprise Hapinoy to support sari shops through educational opportunities and capital grants as part of its Tulong Sulong Livelihoods Initiative.
The Memorandum of Agreement is signed by a lawyer. Monde Nissin Corporate and Government Affairs Director Olive Misa, Monde Nissin Public Affairs Director Marc Alejo and Hapinoy President Mark Ruiz attended the ceremony held on Tuesday, June 11, at the Monde Nissin Pasig City office.
The initiative, called the “45@45 Sari-sari Store Enablement Program,” is part of Monde Nissin’s 45th anniversary celebrations. It aims to increase the visibility of sari sari shops across the country and create more livelihood opportunities. The pilot program has two parts: hands-on training for 40 existing sari-sari shops, and establishment of new shops to provide sustainable income. According to Nissin Mundo, the new stores will be provided to five agricultural cooperatives and community organizations in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Negros Region and Davao Region.
“Sari sari stores are crucial to making our products easily available within the community. At the same time, the agricultural sector is crucial to produce the raw materials for our products,” Misa said.
She added that the support program is in line with the company’s long-term goal of providing entrepreneurial opportunities and financial support to sari-sari shop owners, of whom Hapinoy is a partner.
“What’s exciting and unique about this program is that it also supports five community organizations or vendors as part of the Monde Nissin Inclusion Chain. This project is truly end-to-end,” shared Ruiz.
Hapinoy will launch a business and financial management learning module called “Hapiswkela” and provide packages including inventory subsidies, store merchandise and marketing materials to beneficiary sari-sari stores. As part of the 45@45 initiative, Hapinoy will also launch five new stores as venues for selected multi-purpose agricultural cooperatives to launch new businesses.
Through the Tulong Sulong campaign, Monde Nissin's sari-sari store support program takes a step towards the company's broader goals of inclusive growth. Nissin World Project launches additional initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of people and the planet through sustainable food security solutions.
