Now that Sri Lanka has reopened to tourists in September 2021, I am very happy to be back Colombo. After adopting new Covid measures, staying in Class I facilities is the right thing to do because they follow all epidemic guidelines and take all precautions to ensure your safety. Mövenpick Colombo cooperated with the Sri Lanka Tourism Board and allowed me to stay in their junior suite for two nights, which is why I would return to this hotel 100 times.
Mövenpick Colombo-First Class Hotel
All hotel employees wear masks. Disinfectants can be found everywhere, from parking lots to restaurants to rooftops. My temperature was taken as soon as I walked into the hotel. In addition, the hotel regularly disinfects the touched surfaces every two hours. In public places, I was required to wear a mask, just like other hotel guests. Because I arrived late at night, at 11.30 in the evening, Movenpick was very friendly and offered me tea/coffee and food. As I was exhausted after the trip, the hotel sent refreshments to my room instead.
However, I had a cup of coffee in the waiting area on the ground floor. Guests can rest in this modest waiting room, where there are several nested seats with green upholstery and red and white floral carpets. As soon as I finished my coffee, one of the staff escorted me to the elevator with my luggage following. Another benefit of living in Movenpick during the pandemic is that all floors are marked with social distancing. For the safety of guests, staff are required to wash their hands regularly and record daily body temperature.
The Mövenpick Hotel Colombo is only 45 minutes away from the airport and offers 219 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows in the center of Colombo. The next morning, the suite on the 20th floor was a beautiful scenery. When I woke up, the beautiful scenery of the city and the Indian Ocean greeted me.
Junior Suite with Sea and City View

Although the bedroom and the living room are not separated, the suite is quite large. In these beautiful and modern hotel rooms, the king-size beds are covered with luxurious sheets and blankets, creating a comfortable and indulgent atmosphere.
All bed sheets are cleaned and disinfected at high temperature. The fire-colored wall behind the bed contrasts sharply with the original white color scheme. This suite is decorated with modern design and provides a charming space for you to recover and rest after a busy day of city sightseeing.
Ensuite toilet
The en suite bathroom is well ventilated with shiny marble, separate shower and double basins. It also has a walk-in shower. I am very happy to see Senses’ quality toiletries, which include shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Other restroom facilities include hair dryers, dental kits, etc.
In-suite facilities
Each room is air-conditioned. For relaxation, the deep bathtub is perfectly placed in front of the large windows, overlooking the future urban landscape of the city and the Indian Ocean. The LED TV has international and domestic channels, and free Wi-Fi allows you to keep in touch with work.
The suite has a writing desk, a seating area with a sofa and a minibar. To feel energetic, you can use the fully equipped gym during your stay at the Mövenpick Hotel Colombo. The junior suite can accommodate up to 2 adults and 1 child. Suite guests can also enjoy free food and beverages in the executive lounge.
All guests can use the rooftop infinity pool and jacuzzi free of charge, where they can enjoy magnificent views of the city and the Indian Ocean. When you stay in one of the 52-square-meter junior suites, you can take a dip in the rooftop infinity pool under the stars. The infinity pool at Movenpick’s famous Vistas rooftop bar is perfect for all those pictures worth posting on Instagram, and it is currently the coolest meeting place in town.
Room Service
Because I am very busy at work, 24-hour room service is a standard benefit of high-end hotels, which is very useful. At Mövenpick in Colombo, they are very adaptable and easy-going.
laundry
The laundry service may seem trivial, but it is a big benefit of a five-star hotel. I would rather focus on my business than doing laundry myself! At Movenpick, I just put the dirty clothes in the bag provided, put the bag outside the door, and the clothes came back-washed, dried, ironed and folded a few hours later. When I was about to leave the hotel, all I had to do was put the folded clothes in my bag.
Housekeeping
The housekeeper made my bed efficiently, changed the sheets, changed my bathrobe, kept clean towels, provided extra drinking water, cleared the garbage and tidy up the furniture. All of this takes time-I don’t have time!
These gorgeous suites are designed to cater to the most acute tastes. The decoration gives people a bright and airy feeling, and the subtle tones represent Mövenpick’s own personalized design. The friendly environment and the excellent service provided by the staff ensured that I had a pleasant time in Colombo and left many good memories for this beautiful city.
I live in a non-smoking junior suite without any connecting doors. Smoking options are available on request. High-end hotels provide a first-class gym, equipped with all the equipment to keep me healthy and energetic, including at least a treadmill or elliptical machine. If you believe in staying healthy, the hotel gym is an important part of your daily regimen. Meals and snacks
I also find the hotel restaurant is very convenient because I don’t have to go far away for lunch or dinner. I try to dine at the hotel restaurant at least once a day. Dining at the Mövenpick Hotel in Colombo is a timeless pleasure, with a variety of cuisines to choose from. I had a wonderful breakfast at AYU, an all-day restaurant serving a variety of Western, Indian and Sri Lankan cuisines.
At Robata Grill, I cherished a lunch, which allowed me to embark on an unpretentious Asian journey and introduced me to different Asian flavors. Chinese food, Japanese food, Malaysian food, Thai food and Korean food are among the dishes I tasted. The Mansion Grill and Bar on the first floor provided me with some of the best steaks, whiskeys and wines in the city.
The hotel also provides guests with a rich Mövenpick breakfast buffet. This 24-storey hotel is only 5 minutes from Galle Face and the beach.
