With so many unknowns entering the 2021 NFL season, the betting line for each first weekend game is less than 8 points. Three teams are favored for touchdowns, and four weak teams have lower shooting percentages.
Below are the spread selections for each game in Week 1, and the updated betting odds. The betting line comes from FanDuel sports betting.
Dallas Cowboys (+7.5) at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Pirates will score Points Against one of the worst defenses in the league. Tampa Bay brought back all the starting players from a team that averaged 33.9 points per game that ended with 8 consecutive victories last season. Cowboys guard Zach Martin is out due to COVID-19. The Super Bowl champion may not have much trouble in the opener.
Forecast ATS: Tampa Bay
Jacksonville Jaguars (-2.5) at Houston Texans
If there is time to bet on the Texans, it is when they are at home against quarterbacks and head coaches, they will make their debut in the NFL regular season. The last time Jacksonville won an away game was in 2019. The Jaguars’ only victory last season occurred in the first week, when they shocked the Colts.Maybe Houston is expected to become NFL worst team, They can finish their own week 1 upset and surprise Jacksonville.
Forecast ATS: Houston
Pittsburgh Steelers (+6.5) vs. Buffalo Bills
The Steelers are talking about having the best defense in the AFC. Buffalo beat Pittsburgh 26-15 last year, but Josh Allen’s passing score was limited to 77.5, and the Bills made a touchdown at the sixth position. The Steelers’ commitment to running games may benefit Buffalo’s poor defense.
Forecast ATS: Pittsburgh
San Francisco 49ers of the Detroit Lions (-7.5)
This may become the biggest blowout in the first week. San Francisco was healthy in Sunday’s game and may perform badly in Detroit’s defense. Jared Gove performed poorly in the Rams’ final seasons against the 49ers. Now, the Lions quarterback may have the worst receiver in the NFL.
Forecast ATS: San Francisco
New York Jets (+5) at the Carolina Panthers
Sam Darnold didn’t have much success with the Jets, and he can also struggle a lot with the Panthers. Carolina has ended 5-11 seasons for two consecutive seasons, and there are major problems with their quarterback and offensive line. This is one of the most interesting quarterback matchups since Zach Wilson made his debut.
Forecast ATS: New York
Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons (+3.5)
The Falcons’ offense may be one of the NFL’s best offenses, with Arthur Smith leading, followed by Kelpitz. However, Atlanta’s defense may give Philadelphia a chance to steal this. Expect more stringent results than expected.
Forecast ATS: Philadelphia
Seattle Seahawks (-2.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis will struggle to keep up with one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses. Russell Wilson is a legitimate MVP candidate, and his pair of receivers is better than most people in the league. The Colts will not have the leading receiver TY Hilton. Whether Carson Wentz, who is about to undergo foot surgery, can recover from the disappointing 2020 season is still unknown.
Forecast ATS: Seattle
Tennessee Titans’ Arizona Cardinals (+3)
This may end up being the best game in the first week of the schedule. Tennessee can score with anyone. Kyler Murray may have some brilliant performances in the face of the Titans’ poor defense. Tennessee has the advantage at home and the team has averaged 32.4 points in the past 12 games.
Forecast ATS: Tennessee
Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Cincinnati Bengals
If Minnesota’s shaky offensive line can maintain its advantage against mediocre Cincinnati seven o’clock early, then this game shouldn’t be particularly close. The Vikings recovered all key components from last year’s top five offense. It may be difficult for Joe Burrow to find his footing in his first NFL game in 10 months because Minnesota’s defense has improved.
Forecast ATS: Minnesota
Los Angeles Chargers of Washington Football Team (-1)
After his outstanding rookie season, Justin Herbert will be tested immediately in the second year. The Chargers must play an afternoon game on the other side of the country, and the defense against quarterbacks is better than almost any other unit in the NFL. Ryan Fitzpatrick may provide some big data to start the season before the wheels finally fall off.
Forecast ATS: Washington
Denver Broncos (-2.5) at the New York Giants
The Broncos have yet to prove enough to be favored for shooting goals in road games on the East Coast. New York’s defense may make Teddy Bridgewater difficult in Denver’s first game. Saquon Barkley will likely play for the Giants for the first time in a year.
Forecast ATS: New York
Green Bay Packers at New Orleans Saints (-4)
Since the end of the game, the line has moved a point in favor of Green Bay Moved from New Orleans To Jacksonville. Hurricane Ida replaced the Saints, forcing the team to practice in Dallas. The small success of the preseason does not mean that Jamie Winston has become a different quarterback, his lack of proven receivers will be a problem. Aaron Rodgers will perform well against a defense that lost several starters during the offseason.
Forecast ATS: Green Bay
Cleveland Browns of the Kansas City Chiefs (+6.5)
When the Chiefs can’t score a touchdown at home, it’s difficult to bet on them, even against the Browns’ potential Super Bowl contenders. Kansas City’s rebuilt offensive line should be able to withstand Miles Garrett and his team. In all his three season openers, Mahomes led the Chiefs to at least 34 points and double-digit victories.
Forecast ATS: Kansas City
Miami Dolphins at the New England Patriots (+3)
Bill Belichick is a master who is good at confusing young quarterbacks. Tua Tagovailoa was controlled for 145 yards and had no touchdowns in his rookie game against the Patriots. The New England team’s defense will be greatly improved this season. The return of the fans means that the Patriots once again have a significant home court advantage.
Forecast ATS: New England
Chicago Bears (+7.5) at the Los Angeles Rams
In every game of the past three seasons, this game has been one of the ugliest games in the NFL. The average total score of the three games is only 26.3 points. With the occurrence of another low-scoring event, tie-break is the best choice.
Forecast ATS: Chicago
Baltimore Ravens (-4.5) in the Las Vegas Raiders
For the Raiders, this may be a very long season. Las Vegas’ defense did not improve during the offseason. Lamar Jackson can get in touch with the Raiders on Monday night. When Derek Karl last faced Baltimore’s defense in 2018, he completed less than half of his passes for less than 200 yards.
Forecast ATS: Baltimore
