Nintendo will release Switch OLED in October; experts say Switch Pro still exists

Japanese gaming giant Nintendo announced on Tuesday the launch of a new Switch model called OLED. Although it is not called Switch Pro, it provides a number of enhancements that were not available in the 2017 hybrid game console.

The new Nintendo Switch OLED model will be officially released on October 8, with a suggested retail price of $349.99. The new mode provides gamers with another option, allowing them to play games on hybrid consoles. The company stated in an official statement that the overall size of the new model is the same as the original Switch gaming system announcement.

However, it has a vibrant and larger 7-inch OLED screen. In addition, it has a new docking station with a wired LAN port and a wide and adjustable stand for desktop mode. The Nintendo Switch OLED model also has 64 GB of internal storage and enhanced audio, suitable for desktop and handheld games.

Nintendo first launched a hybrid game console called Nintendo Switch in 2017, and released Nintendo Switch Lite in 2019. The Lite model provides a portable-only experience for games at a cheaper price. Now, a few years after the release of the portable game console, Nintendo announced the launch of Switch OLED.

Experts said that Nintendo released a new game console during its mid-term update to maintain its momentum. On Tuesday, NPD analyst Mat Piscatella tweeted: “On the same day, Nintendo’s portable revision will stabilize the demand curve and increase ASP. They are to maintain sales performance and prevent price drops and stale inventories. The Switch OLED is correct. From this successful script.”
