- Sunflower Butter (Sunflower seed butter is nut-free, although virtually any seed or nut butter will work here!)
- unsweetened shredded coconut (can substitute for more linen or omit)
- ground flaxseed
- raw sunflower seeds
- vanilla extract
- chia seeds
- Maple sugar (or honey)
- Optional Additions: Dried Cranberries, Raisins, Chocolate Chips…you name it!
Seed Butter Tip!
Make sure your sunscreen (or any used nut butter!) is fresh and not sticky or drying. Thick or dry nut butters can cause energy balls to not hold together well.

how to make them
This is our favorite part!
No food processor required!
Most energy drinks rely on dates for sweetness and consistency, which means they need to be made in a food processor…but these don’t!
That means to make them, all you have to do is mix the ingredients in a bowl! It really is that simple.
Once the ingredients are fully mixed, roll them into balls, set and store!
Get the kids involved!
The kids love making these! Let them choose add-ons, do some mixing, and even roll! They’ll be thrilled when they see hypoallergenic classroom energy balls in their lunch box!
how to store them
Store energy cubes in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. They can also be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
notes: They’re stable at room temperature, so it’s perfectly safe to take them out of the fridge for a few days if needed, but they’re best stored in the freezer.
freeze:
Store them in an airtight container or bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 months. Let sit in the refrigerator overnight to defrost, then serve as desired.
