this Oklahoma The Attorney General’s Office has requested the State Court of Criminal Appeals to issue 35 days’ notice before the execution of the death penalty as required to postpone the execution date of the seven death row inmates.
In a briefing submitted on Friday, Attorney General John O’Connor asked the court to arrange for the execution of John Marion Grant’s death sentence on October 28 or November 18. According to The State of Oklahoma.
O’Connor said that the initial request for Grant was August 25, which would allow compliance with the 35-day requirement, but the Court of Appeal did not respond.
O’Connor also asked the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals to set executions for James Codington, Donald Grant, Julius Jones, Wade Lay, Gilbert Postel, and Bigler Stover date.
After a U.S. district judge ruled that six death row inmates were eligible, he moved because they did not determine an alternative in the constitution’s continuing challenge to the national death penalty agreement.
The prisoner’s lawyer questioned O’Connor’s appointment request for a variety of reasons, including the issue of drugs used as a tranquilizer during the death penalty injection.
