FNSS started the PARS IV 8×8 next-generation wheeled armored vehicle design research in 2019, and assessed the future needs of the Turkish Army in the scope of the next-generation vehicle project executed by the Presidential Palace of the Defense Industry.
Taking into account the technical characteristics developed in accordance with today’s needs and the needs of the Allied forces, the vehicle is designed and produced by FNSS’s own resources and will be exhibited at IDEF 2021.
Since the early 2000s, the PARS vehicle family has been updated to adapt to different combat environments, and updated to adapt to evolving technology and provide its users with a tactical advantage on the battlefield. The newest member of the PARS vehicle family, the PARS IV 8×8 new generation wheeled armored vehicle, aims to adapt to today’s asymmetric threats of mixed warfare conditions by considering conventional warfare elements.
The elements that determine the PARS IV 8×8 field combat capability; protection, firepower, mobility, and electronic infrastructure systems are adapted to current conditions. Due to its modular structure, PARS IV 8×8 is designed to be able to produce different variants, which can be used as infantry fighting vehicles, reconnaissance, command and control, personnel transport vehicles, mortar transport vehicles, combat engineering, CBRN and recycling car.
Thanks to the modular design of the armor system and the special hull design, it has the highest ballistic, mine and improvised explosive device protection among similar products; the protection level of the vehicle can be improved according to user requirements.
PARS IV 8×8 can operate day and night under all terrain and weather conditions. The two-person cab at the front of the vehicle provides a field of view of more than 180 degrees and a high level of armored driving safety. The panoramic periscope in front of the vehicle and the thermal imaging cameras located at the front and rear provide a wider field of vision for the driver and commander. In this way, all tasks can be performed safely under armor protection without opening the hatch. The power unit is supported by PARS IV 8×8’s excellent maneuverability, balanced load distribution and a completely independent, height-adjustable hydro-pneumatic suspension, designed to support necessary operations under various difficult conditions. Thanks to the all-wheel steering system, the vehicle can turn within the same radius as its length, so it can easily maneuver in urban areas.
The vehicle has been prepared for the testing and evaluation process of the Presidential Office of the Defense Industry and the Army in the coming period. The evaluation will be conducted on paper, and ballistics, landmines, improvised explosive devices and maneuverability tests will be carried out.
The production of this vehicle takes into account the requirements of different allied forces and incorporates the high maneuverability of the PARS series. With its ability to adapt to various environmental conditions and respond to multiple threats in a short time, the PARS IV 8×8 new generation of wheeled vehicles is ready to be the most protected configuration in its family.
