Peruvian bus crashed into cliff and killed 32 people, including 2 children


Lima-Officials said that early on Tuesday, a bus in Peru fell from a cliff, killing 32 passengers, including two children, and injuring more than 20 people. This happened in the country in four days The third transportation accident involving multiple injuries.

The accident occurred on a narrow section of the Carretera Central Highway about 60 kilometers east of the capital Lima.

“Unfortunately, there are currently 32 deaths,” said police commander Cesar Cervantes.

According to the police, a 6-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl were among the dead.

There were 63 passengers on the bus.

The police added on Twitter that they are conducting search and rescue operations on possible survivors and looking for dead bodies.

Cervantes said that the “recklessness” caused the accident on Tuesday, adding that the bus had been driving at “high speed”.

According to survivors, it hit a rock and plunged into an abyss about 200 meters deep.

On Sunday, two ships collided on the Amazon River in Peru, killing 22 people. An undetermined figure is still missing.

Two days ago, another bus crashed into a ravine in the southeast of the country, killing 17 people.

Road traffic accidents are common in the Andean countries and their causes include speeding, poor maintenance of highways, lack of road signs and poor enforcement of traffic safety.
