According to reports, there were “serious and tragic” incidents in which many people were believed to have lost their lives on Thursday night. Plymouth.
A “large number” of emergency service vehicles and staff were dispatched to the scene in the Keyham area of the city. Just after 6 pm, about three air ambulances were seen near St Levan’s Road.
Witnesses heard “loud noise” and “gunfire”.
Local councillor Luke Pollard said he was waiting for news about the “number of victims”, which he called “a very severe day for our city and community.”
Conservative MP Johnny Mercer of Plymouth Moor View said the incident was “not related to terrorism.”
He wrote: “This incident has nothing to do with a terrorist attack, and neither is the suspect who fled in Plymouth. Keep calm. Details are to be confirmed by the police. Do not forward gossip or gossip; work with them. We have the best in this land. Policemen.”
He earlier said on Twitter: “I know that a serious and tragic incident is happening in Plymouth. Please follow all police instructions and do not post rumors or speculation on social media. When I have news, I will post. .”
Local Labour MP Luke Pollard wrote on Twitter: “The news from #plymouth’s Keyham is really worrying. Please stay safe, stay indoors and follow the police’s advice.”
Later, he added: “Update: We are waiting to confirm the number of victims, but this seems to be a very severe day for our city and community. Please consider your family and our community, and don’t share any of the victims’ Any image or video.”
Witnesses are describing the scene on Thursday night.
Dan Baker told Standard: “I was always indoors when the incident happened. I saw police helicopters flying overhead. In the past few hours, many police helicopters flying overhead, the roads around me were caused by police. The site is closed. The police’s recommendation is to stay indoors, so people are waiting for any updates.”
Earlier, he tweeted: “Obviously, there was a mass shooting in Plymouth, about 5 minutes from my front door. Very not the kind of thing that happened in Plymouth. I really hope that the report I saw is not true-keep it Safe, neighbor.
“If you are in Keyham, Ham, North Prospect or Stoke…stay indoors. Possible active shooters are loose. Children, be safe.”
It tweeted: “We used a lot of resources to deal with this incident, including Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), multiple ambulances, air ambulances, multiple doctors and senior paramedics.
“We will provide updates here in due course.”
