French Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Wednesday that the delta variant of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 is embodied in the main variant of the virus circulating in France.
Castex told TF1 TV that the government cabinet meeting has determined the main steps to be taken in response to the fourth wave of infections in the country.
Castex said:
We are in the fourth wave.
“The Delta variant is most variants, it is more contagious,” he added, the variant first discovered in India.
The French government began submitting a new plan to the lawmakers this week to fight Covid-19, which includes requiring health passes to be obtained in various places from the beginning of August and compulsory vaccinations for health workers.
