According to reports, about 40 policemen sent to provide security for the Tokyo Paralympic Games were sent home after getting drunk and quarreling with citizens. Asahi newspaper.
The newspaper stated that these police officers were members of a special security force in Yamanashi Prefecture. They violated the force’s prohibition on alcohol and were drunk at their residence in Tokyo on Saturday night.
According to reports, these police officers later clashed with civilians near JR Kinshicho Station in Sumida District, Tokyo.
In the end, the paper stated that other police officers were called to the scene, where they arrested drunk colleagues.
No one was seriously injured during the confrontation.
According to the Asahi Shimbun, sources said that several police officers also visited a brothel during their stay in the capital.
The entire force was relieved of their duties in Tokyo on Monday and returned to Yamanashi Prefecture on Monday.
The newspaper said that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department stated that the Yamanashi Prefecture Police are investigating the matter.
Approximately 11,600 police officers were deployed from across the country to provide security for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
