Police clashed with Extinction Rebellion protesters on the Mayor’s Show

During the Mayor’s Show on Saturday, police were forced to drag climate change protesters off the road, and 15 people were arrested.

Thousands of spectators gathered to watch the three-mile parade consisting of 125 floats. City of London.

But the police were forced to stop the extinction insurgent protesters who tried to walk in front of the parade.

The Mayor’s Show started in 1215, when it was a river event on the Thames.

King John formulated the Royal Charter that year, allowing the city to choose its own mayor every year instead of appointing a sheriff by the king.

Today, the mayor is the head of the City of London Corporation, which is the governing body of the square mile.

This role is different from the Mayor of London, who is the head of the Greater London Authority.
