Dear reader, today’s blog post is more for me and helps me think about how necessary patience and peace are in our lives. Patience is the key to living a fulfilling life. Patience can be defined as the ability to endure and face adversity without losing hope, which in turn can lead to inner peaceAccording to Merriam-Webster, patience is the ability to wait for a long time without getting angry or upset, the ability to remain calm without getting angry when dealing with a problem or a difficult person, or the ability to pay attention to something for a period of time. Never get bored or lose interest for a long time. Merriam-Webster defines peace as a state of tranquility or quiet, freedom from disturbing or repressed thoughts or emotions, and harmony in relationships. So how can we achieve patience and/or peace? In this article, I share some of the ways I try to cultivate these traits. Disclaimer: This article is my personal opinion and in no way reflects professional advice or guidance.

We’ve all probably encountered peaceful, patient, and positive people in our lives. Many of these people may have struggled and failed in their lives, but Attitude, not circumstance, makes a person a winner. I have personally struggled with patience since I was a kid. I am a middle school student and have no patience with my sister, although my older sister is very patient with me. As a middleman, I may be spoiled – receptive and not giving? Fast forward to my teenage and college years, I was lucky enough to make friends who didn’t judge me much, and slowly I started to develop patience, but I wasn’t even close. Life does make you smarter with age and experience. Marriage brings its own learning. With two kids and a full-time job, I’ve learned some ways to balance work and family, but have not been successful in learning patience and calm in the process. Today, as I write and reflect, I have hundreds of opportunities to be grateful and develop patience.
Peace on the other hand is more about you being harmonious and not dependent on others. It is accompanied by introspection and developing the right positive thoughts and attitudes. Of course, as human beings, our external environment plays a huge role in shaping our internal thoughts – fear, stress, joy or relaxation. On my own life journey, now with two teenage kids and a husband of nearly two decades, I’m still learning to be more patient, which in turn has helped me become more peaceful.
5 Ways to Develop Patience and Inner Peace
I’ve listed 5 easy ways to help me develop patience with my kids and family. I think, like many of us, I am more patient and forgiving with my acquaintances than I am with my family. As a result, while many of my friends may think I’m patient and loving reality, that may not be the case. This is one of my New Year’s SMART goals. For me, inner peace is the ultimate virtue to have! Isn’t that what we all want? We all want to achieve happy and successful things, and the ultimate goal is peace. Peace comes when people believe that we can be content and happy now, rather than hitting a milestone to achieve it.
Here are my five easy ways to develop patience and calm in my life-
- grow your faith
Many of us are faithful people. We believe in superpowers and strive to cultivate an attitude of gratitude and gratitude. I am a spiritual person not a religious person. For me, on this journey of faith, I sometimes have to stop and see how far I’ve come. Am I stuck in the same place years or months ago? Growth is the most important thing. We may all be in different places, but ultimately we should all go further and strengthen our faith. This gives us confidence and the ability to move on with our lives. So I want to encourage you all to allow yourself to grow a little bit every day. Look back and be humble where you got from the beginning!
2. keep your bucket full
Keeping your bucket full means you are hopeful, happy, positive, and encouraging. You can’t take out of an empty bucket, you’ll give what you have. If your bucket is full of love and happiness, you will give it away. If you have something negative in your bucket, then obviously give you what’s in the bucket. So think carefully about what you put in the bucket. As I’ve shared in many of my previous posts, everyone’s life goes through some turbulence from time to time, but the most important thing is to always get up and move on. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to read this book to find out how full your bucket is.
3. let it go.forget and forgive
easy to say, hard to do. But learning to let go can reduce the weight on your chest. It can relieve your physical and mental illness. Try to treat everyone with the love, respect, and kindness they deserve. You never know what people might experience in that moment, so always be kind!
4. Live every day and every moment of their arrival
There is power now or now. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, try to make every moment as perfect as possible. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to read this book on the power of now by Eckhart Tolle.
5. Accept joy and struggle as a part of life
In this journey known as life, there will always be ups and downs. No one has a perfect life. Don’t let life circumstances change your attitude. Make your thought process so powerful that inner satisfaction can be achieved without external joy. Don’t be too happy or too sad. Learn to balance your life. Enjoy what’s to come and trust that it will pass too. Believe that God is by your side and walks with you step by step every day. You are never alone. Develop habits like mindfulness and journaling to calm your mind and help you develop patience and achieve a peaceful state of mind.
