Qantas has confirmed plans to ban unvaccinated passengers from international flights after Australia lifts travel restrictions.
“Qantas will develop a policy that, internationally, we will only transport vaccinated passengers,” Chief Executive Alan Joyce said on Wednesday. According to Traveller.com.au.
“Because we think this will be one of the requirements to prove that you fly safely and enter these countries. We hope this can be achieved before Christmas.”
“We think everyone should protect themselves, but we also have requirements to protect our colleagues and passengers. Then there are requirements to protect the community,” Joyce said.
Qantas did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
Qantas Announced last month It will require all frontline employees of Qantas and its budget subsidiary Jetstar, from crew members to airport staff, to be fully vaccinated by November 15. All other employees must be vaccinated by March 31, 2022, it said.
