Mr. Rab was under pressure this week because Afghanistan fell into the hands of the Taliban because he was on vacation.
But the prime minister Boris Johnson Zeng said that he still has confidence in the minister.
On August 13, two days before the capital was occupied, officials told Mr. Raab to call the Afghan Foreign Minister Hanif Amtar to request the repatriation of interpreters who helped the Allied forces during the war. This task was delegated to Lord Goldsmith, Junior Minister.
This call has never been made since then.
The Minister of Health of Scotland Humza Youssef spoke at a rally in Glasgow, pointing at Mr. Raab and the United Kingdom government
“Of all these big numbers, in the trillions, billions, millions and hundreds of thousands, there is no apology from the British government,” he said.
“No British government expresses regret.
“Even when our Afghan brothers and sisters needed help most urgently, the British government did not have the slightest sympathy.
“I am ashamed of every political leader who has abandoned the Afghan people.”
He added: “We have always had a foreign minister who is more busy drinking Coke by the pool than picking up the phone to help the Afghan interpreters who help our soldiers in Afghanistan.
“Ashamed of each of them.”
The Minister of Health called himself a “stroke” to the situation in Afghanistan, but added: “Although I am very angry, I said that on this typical Scottish day, it rained and I saw dozens of people, dozens of Glasgow people from People of all colors and races, religions, and non-religious people stand here today in solidarity with the Afghan people. I am reminded that there are beautiful things in the world.”
This week, the British Prime Minister promised to receive 20,000 refugees from Afghanistan, allowing up to 5,000 people to enter the UK in the first year.
But Mr. Yusuf attacked the plan and the British government, saying: “If you are looking for shelter, Scotland can be your home.
“If you are looking for shelter, Scotland is your home.
“I call on the British government to show some basic humanity.
“To put it simply, we will allow 5,000 Afghans — 20,000 in a few years — it is sad.
“Go further, go faster, I assure you, our Scottish cities, our Scottish islands, our Scottish towns, our Scottish villages, they will be as welcome as we have done to the Afghan community over the years The Afghans came here.”
A spokesperson for the Office of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development said: “Our staff are working tirelessly to facilitate the rapid evacuation of British nationals, Afghan staff and others at risk.
“The scale of the evacuation effort is huge. Since Sunday, we have helped more than 3,000 people leave Afghanistan.”
