Since launching Daily Italian Words in 2019, I’ve been touched by the influx of emails we’ve received from individuals sharing their personal motivations for learning Italian.
Some of you have humbly shared stories of growing up in immigrant families in Italy, where the language was discouraged and, in some cases, even punished in childhood. The desire to reconnect with your roots and embrace tradition becomes the driving force behind your language learning journey.
Many of you, like me, have a deep passion for Italian culture – a lifelong love that fires your imagination and draws you to delve into the intricacies of the language.
Also, some people embark on this language journey because of a romantic relationship. Bright love intertwines your life with Italy, fostering lasting bonds and inspiring you to master the language of your other half.
These narratives not only amazed me, but fueled my desire to explore and understand the various reasons behind the pursuit of this beautiful language. With this in mind, I wanted to put together an article outlining the different motivations that drive people like you to learn Italian.
We greatly appreciate your contribution to the following poll, as it will further enrich this article. Please feel free to select multiple answers, as I recognize that our motivations for learning a language are often multifaceted and complex. Many thanks!
