Reporters Without Borders called on US President Joe Biden on Saturday to formulate “a special plan to evacuate endangered Afghan journalists from Taliban-controlled Kabul.”
Reporters Without Borders stated that the United States seems to be only concerned about the “evacuation of its citizens and former employees.”
It added: “This prevents the evacuation of those on the list of sensitive persons in danger.”
“We have received dozens of emergency evacuation requests,” said Christophe Deloire, head of RSF.
Our problem today is not to get visas or seats on the plane, but to make it possible for these people to board the plane.
The NGO called on the United States to postpone the end of its military operations at Kabul Airport so that journalists and activists from different countries and organizations can be identified and allowed to enter.
It said: “It is essentially impossible to complete the evacuation of all people in great danger, including Afghan journalists, before August 31.”
“The image of the United States as a defender of freedom of the press and human rights is threatened,” Delore said.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) stated that it received “hundreds of requests for help” from Afghan journalists, most of them women, who were “in panic and fear”.
According to a German radio report, the Taliban were looking for a Deutsche Welle reporter who currently lives in Germany. He shot and killed one of his family members and seriously injured another family member on Wednesday.
