Recipe ingredients

Smoky cilantro-lime crema and spicy red pepper flakes perfectly balance the sweetness of this dish. Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for exact quantities.

For sweet potatoes

  • sweet potato– Make sure they are sliced ​​evenly.
  • Avocado oil – Olive and canola oils also work.
  • Salt – Kosher salt is best. Garlic salt also adds more flavor.

  • Original Greek Yogurt – It must be unsweetened. Feel free to use crema or sour cream.
  • fresh cilantro – Avoid using dried cilantro as it adds a stale flavor.
  • Chives – Leeks are a good swap.
  • Red wine vinegar—— You can also use sherry vinegar or apple cider vinegar.
  • Lime juice – Lemon juice can be substituted.
  • garlic – I prefer fresh garlic or garlic paste.
  • Cumin powder – If you have taco seasoning on hand, go ahead and buy it.
  • Red pepper flakes – Chili peppers also work.
  • Salt – For this, use kosher salt or pink Himalayan salt.

How to Roast Sweet Potatoes

  • Season them. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Season sweet potatoes on all sides with avocado oil and salt.
  • Bake them. Place the sweet potatoes on the grill for 10 minutes, turning occasionally, or until fork tender. Remove them from the heat and set aside.
  • Make grease. Blend all ingredients for cilantro-lime grease in a food processor until smooth. Set it aside.
  • Serve. Place roasted sweet potatoes on a plate and drizzle with crema to taste. enjoy!

Melted cheddar cheese and crispy bacon take these roasted sweet potatoes to the next level.

  • Add crunch. Cook 4-5 bacon strips until crispy, then crumble into pieces. Sprinkle it over the sweet potatoes for crunch. So is the crispy pork rind.

These roasted sweet potatoes are the perfect side dish for a Tex-Mex-style meal. Roasted sweet potatoes with cilantro-lime crema make a perfectly unique summer treat in 25 minutes.

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Season sweet potatoes generously on both sides with oil and salt.
  3. Place directly on the grill for 10 minutes, flipping in between. Remove from grill and let rest.
  4. Add yogurt, cilantro, scallions, red wine vinegar, lime juice, garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes and salt to a food processor. Stir until smooth and combined.
  5. Top the sweet potatoes with the cilantro-lime crema.
