American artist Robby Steinhardt, famous as a violinist and singer Rock Band Kansas, Has passed away at the age of 71.
His wife Cindy Steinhardt said her husband was taken to the hospital for the first time in May and died on Saturday due to complications of pancreatitis.
She wrote on Facebook: “When our lives are about to embark on a new adventure, we are already overwhelmed. Robby just recorded his first solo album in Solar Studios with the talented music producer Michael Franklin.
“The tour will start in August and Robbie is looking forward to returning to the stage to do what he likes.
“I have been trying to share our lives with you, but I ask you to respect this sorrowful moment.”
Steinhardt is the original member of Kansas, an American avant-garde rock band known for hits such as “Carry On Wayward Son” and Dust In The Wind.
He performed with them from 1973 to 1982 and from 1997 to 2006.
The band has sold more than 15 million records and paid tribute to Steinhardt online.
It said: “The past and present members of the KANSAS band wish to express their deepest grief over the passing of our band member and friend Robby Steinhardt.
“Robby will always exist in our souls, thoughts and music. What he brings to us as a band member, to the fans who attend our concerts, and the voice of Kansas will always come from the heart.
“We love him and will miss him forever.”
Kansas is still performing, only Phil Ehart and Rich Williams as the remaining original members.
