Scotland’s night venues open after the pandemic closed, and club members are happy to return

second

Cortland’s nightclub vowed to “go out every night” because the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions allowed the venue to reopen for the first time in more than a year.

“Waiting for a long time-I will stay until the door closes,” he told PA News Agency.

In the nearby Polo Lounge, an LGBTQ-inclusive club, revellers chanted and screamed when the bell rang at midnight and the door reopened.

Luke Dunsmuir, 19, from Strathbungo, said he is eager to come back.

“I have been in the nightclub since I was 15 years old,” he said. “Oot and aboot.”

He said that as the club closed, he missed the opportunity to meet different people and build connections with others.

He said he was not worried about Covid-19 because he was vaccinated with a double vaccine.

“The only worry is the elderly, which is my only worry, but the proportion of young people infected with Covid is very low,” he said.

He said he will be “busy” in the next few weeks.

“Go out every night, as long as you wait, you will see my face everywhere,” he added.

In the city center, people lined up in the block outside the Savoy nightclub.

19-year-old Mark Grant and 21-year-old Johnny Matthews are both from the South Side, and they are both waiting to get back inside.

Mr. Grant said that before the national lockdown, he had only two months of clubbing time when he was 18 years old.

“I spent most of my 18-year-old in it, so it’s nice to be back,” he said.

“This is a big part of our teenage lives-especially those in their teens to early twenties-and it’s a big part of it, and we haven’t experienced it yet. So we have a lot of time to make up for it,” he said .

Mr. Matthews said: “I’m very busy-I got off work on Monday and I took a vacation.”

He said he was vaccinated with a double vaccine but would take preventive measures.

“We will wear masks, but it should be fine,” he said.

He added: “It’s funny, cheap drinks, so it’s good to come back.”

The nightclub is one of the last places to reopen Scotland Long after the bar was allowed to welcome customers back.

After the initial chaos last week, Scottish Government Clarify that you do not need to wear a mask when dancing or drinking.
