After the “serious gun incident” in the United States, as many as 6 people may have died. Plymouth
Witnesses described hearing gunshots on Thursday night. Some people said she saw a man “randomly” start shooting at people in the Keyham area of the city.
A source told the Palestinian Authority News Agency that as many as six people may have been killed in the incident.
Devon and Cornwall Police Said that there were “multiple deaths” and several other wounded were being treated.
The force stated that a serious incident has been announced, the area has been cordoned off, and that the situation has been “controlled.”
Local councillor Johnny Mercer Twitter said the incident was “not related to terrorism.”
An eyewitness who claimed to be Sharon living near Bidick Avenue told the BBC: “First, someone shouted, followed by gunshots-at first it might be three or four.
“This is when the shooter kicked the door of a house and started shooting randomly… He ran out of the house while running, and then shot several people in the linear park in the driveway.”
Robert Pinkerton told the BBC that he “walked around the corner” and “ran into a guy with a shotgun.”
The Devon and Cornwall police said: “At around 6 this afternoon, the police received a serious gun incident on Biddick Drive in the Keyham area of Plymouth…Police and ambulance staff participated.
“Many people have died at the scene, and several other injured are being treated.
“A serious incident has been declared.
“The area has been cordoned off and the police believe the situation is under control. The road is closed, please avoid the area.
“We call on the public not to speculate or share live photos on social media or anywhere else.”
Mr. Mercer, a member of the Plymouth Swamp Landscape District, wrote on Twitter: “This incident has nothing to do with the terrorist attack, and the suspect who fled in Plymouth has nothing to do with it.
“Keep calm. Awaiting confirmation from the police for more details. Don’t forward gossip or gossip; work with them. We have the best police in this land.”
In an earlier tweet, Mr. Mercer said he “knows that a serious and tragic incident is happening in Plymouth”.
He added: “Please follow all police instructions and do not post rumors or speculation on social media.”
The Ambulance Service wrote on Twitter: “We have used a lot of resources to deal with this incident, including Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), multiple ambulances, air ambulances, multiple doctors and senior paramedics.
“We will provide updates here in due course.”
Plymouth Sutton and Devonport MP Luke Pollard said the situation looked “a very serious day for our city and community.”
Home Secretary Pritty Patel wrote on Twitter: “The incident in Plymouth is shocking, and my heart is with those affected. I have spoken with the chief of police and expressed my full support. I Urge everyone to stay calm, follow the police’s advice, and let our emergency services continue to work.”
Labour Party leader Sir Kil Starmer wrote on Twitter: “We know very little about the shocking incident in Plymouth. However, it is clear that the tragedy has hit Keyham.
“My heart is with the family and neighbors of the person caught in this nightmare. I pay tribute to our emergency service personnel who rushed to the incident that we all avoided.”
