ENBREL in patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and Psoriatic arthritis (PsA).⁴ ENBREL is a self-injectable biologic therapy indicated for the reduction of signs and symptoms in patients with moderately to severely active RA, including major clinical responses, inhibition of progression of structural damage and improvement of physical function.⁴ ENBREL can be used in combination with methotrexate (MTX) or alone.⁴ See additional instructions below.

The Embark app supports patients with the following key features:

• Handy reminder: The Embark app not only helps patients manage their ENBREL treatment plans, but also manages all of their medications in one place, with the ability to create reminders and schedule notifications for doctor visits, refills, and more.
• Personalized injection support: Within the app, patients will find support and a variety of resources to help with injections, including:

Important Safety Information

What is the most important information I should know about ENBREL?

ENBREL is a drug that affects the immune system. ENBREL can reduce your immune system’s ability to fight infections. Serious infections have occurred in patients taking ENBREL. These infections include tuberculosis (TB) and infections caused by viruses, fungi or bacteria that have spread throughout the body. Some patients die from these infections. Your healthcare provider should test you for TB before you take ENBREL and monitor you closely for TB before, during, and after ENBREL treatment, even if you test negative for TB.

Unusual cases of cancer, some resulting in death, have been reported in pediatric and adolescent patients who were started on tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blockers before age 18. Additionally, children, adolescents, and adults taking TNF blockers, including ENBREL, may have an increased chance of developing lymphoma or other cancers. People with RA may be more likely to develop lymphoma.

Before starting ENBREL, tell your healthcare provider if you:

• have any existing medical conditions
• are taking any medication, including herbal remedies
• think you have, are being treated, have signs or are susceptible to infection.You should not start taking ENBREL if you have any infections unless your healthcare provider says it’s okay
• have any open wounds or sores
• have diabetes, HIV, or a weakened immune system
• Have TB or have been in close contact with someone who has TB
• Birth, residence, or travel to a country with a higher risk of TB.If you are unsure, ask your healthcare provider
• Live, live, or travel in certain areas of the country (such as Ohio and the Mississippi Valley or the Southwest) that are at greater risk for certain types of fungal infections, such as histoplasmosis. These infections may develop or get worse if you take ENBREL.If you don’t know if these infections are common in areas you have visited, ask your healthcare provider
• have or have had hepatitis B
• have or have had heart failure
• Persistent fever, bruising, bleeding, or paleness while taking ENBREL
• Using the drugs Kineret (anakinra), Orencia (abatacept), or Cytoxan (cyclophosphamide)
• are taking antidiabetic medication
• Have, have had, or develop a serious neurological disorder, seizures, any numbness or tingling, or a disorder that affects your nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis or Guillain-Barré syndrome
• surgery planned
• Any vaccines recently received or planned. All vaccines should be updated before starting ENBREL. Patients taking ENBREL should not receive live vaccines.
• Allergy to rubber or latex
• Pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding
• Someone has chickenpox

What are the possible side effects of ENBREL?

ENBREL can cause serious side effects, including: new Infect or a worsening of a disease you already have; Hepatitis B If you already have it, you can become active; nervous system problemssuch as multiple sclerosis, seizures, or inflammation of the nerves in the eye; blood problems (some fatal); new or deteriorating heart failure; new or deteriorating psoriasis; allergic reaction; autoimmune reactionincluding lupus-like syndrome and autoimmune hepatitis.

Common side effects include: Injection site reactions and upper respiratory tract infections (sinus infections).

In general, the frequency and type of side effects in children is similar to that in adult patients. The types of infections reported were generally mild and similar to those commonly seen in children.

These are not all side effects of ENBREL. Tell your healthcare provider about any side effects that bother you or that won’t go away.

Indications

Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

ENBREL is used to reduce signs and symptoms, prevent joint damage from worsening, and improve physical function in people with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. ENBREL can be taken with methotrexate or alone.

psoriatic arthritis

ENBREL is indicated to reduce symptoms and signs, prevent joint damage from worsening, and improve physical function in people with psoriatic arthritis. ENBREL can be used with or without methotrexate.

Moderate to severe plaque psoriasis

ENBREL is indicated for chronic moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis (PsO) in children 4 years of age and older and adults who may benefit from injections or pills (systemic therapy) or phototherapy (ultraviolet light).

Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)

ENBREL is used to reduce signs and symptoms in patients with active ankylosing spondylitis.

Moderately to severely active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)

ENBREL is used to reduce the signs and symptoms of moderately to severely active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in children 2 years of age and older.
