There is no doubt that the purported findings of this study as reported by the news media are false, and no one should rely on this study in any way. Splenda is a safe and effective sugar substitute recommended daily by healthcare professionals to help with weight loss and diabetes management.

Headlines and media reports misrepresenting Splenda and the source of its sweetening ingredients were part of this research. they are not. Splenda and its ingredients have never been researched or tested. This report is false and we are sorry that you, the consumers we serve every day, are anxious, confused or unsure about the false reports in this research. We will take action in response to inaccurate reports.
The focus of this study, sucralose-6-acetate (S6A) is not the same as sucralose; the ingredient used in Splenda.
The study focused on compound S6A, which is distinct from sucralose and not used in Splenda brand products. Media coverage of this study inaccurately and inappropriately suggested that S6A and sucralose were the same, which was not the case. Sucralose is a popular zero-calorie sweetener that has been used by millions of people to sweeten food and beverages for over 25 years. It is also approved by global food safety organizations, including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
S6A is not present in Splenda branded products.
As a leading brand of low- and no-calorie sweeteners, we and our suppliers conduct rigorous and regular testing and monitoring of any impurities in our products. We could confirm the absence of S6A in Splenda brand sucralose with a minimum detection limit of 0.001% sensitivity level. Therefore, we are sure that there is no S6A in the Splenda product. The sucralose in Splenda brand sweeteners is 100% made in the USA so we can monitor and enforce the highest quality standards.
In summary
All in all, the study never tested Splenda products, but instead focused on impurities that are not present in our products. Unfortunately, the study itself, as well as the public relations and media coverage of the study, falsely informed you that it was about a Splenda brand product, which led to confusion and the spread of misinformation. Zero Calorie Sweetener and Splenda brand products are absolutely safe and effective and have been used by millions for over 25 years.
