I visited my buddy @littleleaffarms greenhouse in Massachusetts and it blew my mind! #proudpartner #ad
If you like LLFs, or are unfamiliar with them, here’s a rundown:
It’s completely hydroponic, which means their lettuce is grown without soil, which allows them to use 90% less water than field-grown vegetables! The water they use is recycled rainwater, which is collected on our roofs, disinfected with UV light, and infused with the nutrients that plants need to grow.
They are completely pesticide free and certified non-GMO. Instead of spraying the lettuce with harmful chemical pesticides, they used methods like tape (which you’ll see in this video) and biological control (introducing predatory insects into the greenhouse to control the lettuce-eating insect population).
The coolest part is that their greenhouse is fully automated and the vegetables are sown, grown, harvested and packed without anyone touching the lettuce. That means we don’t have to wash our veggies three times like most other packaged salads at the grocery store. The lettuce is clean and ready to eat right out of the box!
Well done, @littleleaffarms!
