Here’s a list of 16 books we’re excited to dive into this summer!

When you were a kid, you were probably assigned some kind of summer reading at school. Towards the end of the school year, you receive a list of books you should pick up before classes resume in the fall. Even if you enjoy reading, I find this whole thing a bit of a drag. When it becomes a requirement, anything can be less fun…especially when you have summer adventures to go.

Now that you’re an adult, you don’t have to deal with assigned summer reading, which means you can read whatever you want during this magical, sunny season. It’s also a good thing, because there are so many great books waiting to be thrown into your beach bag this summer. Here are 16 of them!

15 must-read books for this season’s adventures

1. every summer after by Cali Fortune: If the title of the book isn’t enough to suggest it’s a must-read for summer, the rave reviews from PopSugar, USA Today, BuzzFeed, and Bustle might convince you to throw one in your pool bag. And the story itself, which revolves around a young woman named Persephone Fraser, who returns to her hometown of Barrie Bay…and her ex-lover whom she considers a total ban. There’s a summer setting, lovely characters, and of course a love story.

2. Find Me: A Memoir by Viola Davis: It’s never a bad time to read a celebrity memoir, but something about the summer made me even more excited to immerse myself in the true story of a man I’m used to seeing only on screen.This summer, the queen of the memoir game is Viola Davis, who you might recognize from the movie help, fence, and widow. This incredible actress is so much more than meets the eye, she shares all the details of her life find me.

3. Real Business: Fiction Sarah Norwich: year is not quite Halfway through, but I’m already very confident real business Will earn a spot on my list of favorite reads for 2022. It’s centered on the role of a group of deaf communities, and I’ve learned a lot from it about how to be a better ally of the hard of hearing. Bonus points for the boarding school environment, which is always a plus.

In this novel, you’ll discover a generational story that spans decades and continents, long-buried family secrets, and a mysterious black cake recipe that unites people in the most challenging of circumstances. Fresh characters include long-distance swimmers, social media-famous scientists and world food experts.

6. Wild: A Novel by Colleen McKegan: Did you grow up as a summer camp kid?If you’re not a summer camp kid, you hope you Can Yes? Do you just love a good thriller? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, it’s time for you to run – don’t walk! – get yourself a copy wild. Debut author Colleen McKeegan constructs a suspenseful tale of flashbacks and high tension set in Manhattan’s high-rise and rural campsites. You’ll read it all in one sitting!

7. this time tomorrow by Emma Straub: Time travel? Is there a chance to reset middle age? Nostalgic for the nineties?everything is here this time tomorrowit was a moment New York Times best seller. The book has been so ubiquitous lately that you don’t want to be left out of small talk about it.

8. How to Raise Anti-Racists Ibrahim X. Kendi: It’s important for all of us to learn to be better allies of people of color — all of us really — but we can’t stop there. We also need to share these lessons with our kids! I hope we have all maintained our anti-racist energy over the past few years, and thanks to Ibram X. Kendi’s new book for parents, we have the opportunity to move forward. Let’s seize this opportunity with open hands!

The Tenth Leaving: A Second Chance in Life: A Memoir by Delia Efron: Delia Ephron is best known for writing some of the rom coms you probably already know and love (You’ve got mail,anyone there? ), but she takes a different tone in this memoir. Not about romance, but about resilience, the story takes readers through Delia’s set of challenges, including the loss of a sibling, a spouse, and a horrific diagnosis. 10. Half-baked Roses: A Novel by Leesa Cross-Smith: If you’re dreaming of a European adventure this summer but don’t think you can make it IRL, Leesa Cross-Smith’s new novel will almost Make you feel like you’ve succeeded.background half rose It was Paris—more specifically, a Paris of artists, sophisticated romance and betrayal. Make sure you pack plenty of sunscreen with this because you don’t want to look away!

11. Latecomers: Fiction Jean-Hanf Corelitz: Jean-Hanf Corelitz plot It caused a lot of buzz when it hit shelves last year, and she certainly wasn’t disappointed latecomers. It’s an intimate account of the wealthy Oppenheimer family and what happens when a fourth child joins the family when triplets Harrison, Levine and Sally leave for college. More is usually happier, but that doesn’t mean latecomers don’t shake things up.

Very Bright Creatures: A Novel by Shelby Van Pelt: The Today Show Reading with Jenna’s Book Club recently selected very bright creatures, But even if you’re not part of the club, you should consider picking it up. Come for bright, whimsical covers, stay for friendship, mystery and sea creatures.

15. What They Didn’t Teach You at Harvard Business School: Notes from a Smart Executive: To this day, McCormack’s business classic remains a must-read for executives and managers of all levels.
