March 2, Columbia Climate School Hosted the Spring 2023 Sustainability Student and Faculty Mix.More than 100 students, faculty and alumni from Undergraduate Sustainability program Being able to put aside reading and homework in exchange for a few hours socializing and networking. The event, held in the Columbia University College Building, saw students meet informally with faculty, staff and alumni to discuss course interests, sustainability and climate field pathways, and career advice.

I was particularly excited to see the many new students attending, which speaks to the continued excitement and interest in the undergraduate sustainability program. “

The event brings together current majors and special concentrators as well as prospective students to enable them to make more informed decisions about upcoming Columbia sophomore major declarations. During the event, there was a dedicated moment of silence to commemorate the passing of 2022 Sustainability alumnus Elan Ganeles.

“Building community is central to my role in the undergraduate sustainability program,” says program manager Silvia Montijo“It has been a joy to see students, faculty and staff come together and connect in this way.
