The 42nd Annual Concert of the Korea Music Association


SEATTLE — On June 12, 2022, the Korean Music Association (KMA) in Washington will host its 42nd annual concert at the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall in Benaroya Hall.

Under the executive direction of KMA President Yujin Kim, the concert will showcase a variety of classical music from Korea and the Western Hemisphere. The show was designed to deliver a message of hope to communities impacted by the pandemic, including the recession, sudden separation from loved ones, the Black Lives Matter movement and Asian hate crimes.

The 42nd regular concert, which will soothe the broken and stiff hearts of many and sing a song of solidarity, is preparing a free-admission concert to invite “first responders” in the medical field who are working hard on the front lines.

Zhu Yuankang

Performers include Korean baritone Joo Won Kang, who made his Metropolitan Opera debut this season as Marcello. Lyric mezzo-soprano Song Chu, who has performed in Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Canada, France, UK, Italy, New Zealand, Korea, and throughout the US; 1st place in the Levine Competition and the Bellini Opera Group Competition;

The pianist Kim Kyung-shin, winner of the International Young Artists Competition, and her first recital in New York were held at Carnegie Hall’s Weir Auditorium;

Lisa Ann

and violinist Lisa An, who has won various competitions including the Washington State MTNA, State OPUS Music Competition, Evergreen Philharmonic Concerto, East Coast Solo and Ensemble Festival, Russian Chamber Music, Korean Music Association Young Artists and Seattle Bach Festival.
